BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:30 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary), seized several points from the jihadist rebels in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo on Tuesday, marking the first time this year that the government forces have advanced in the ‘Anadan Plain.

Led by the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies managed to capture the Khirbat ‘Anadan and Al-Tamourah areas of northwestern Aleppo, putting them in position to strike the key town of ‘Anadan for the first time in this war.

In the coming days, the Syrian Arab Army is expected to launch a major assault on the ‘Anadan Plain of northwest Aleppo, which is considered one of the last strongholds for the jihadist rebels inside the province.

The ‘Anadan Plain’s capture will be a major victory for the Syrian Arab Army and should bring them one step closer to securing the provincial capital and its surrounding area for the first time since the war began in the province.
