BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:20 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-‘Izza launched their largest offensive in the northern Hama countryside on Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions in the Breidij area.
Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham began the assault by firing a barrage of missiles and mortar shells towards the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses; this was followed by their forces storming the Al-Breidij area and its corresponding points.
The jihadist offensive would rage for several hours last night, until the Syrian Arab Army and their Russian allies derailed Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s forces from their course, inflicting heavy casualties onto the enemy combatants.
According to a military source in Hama, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division killed over 30 enemy combatants during the jihadist offensive last night, including two of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s commanders.
As of 12:00 P.M., the entire Al-Breidij area of northern Hama has been fully secured by the Syrian Arab Army , along with its surrounding checkpoints.
