According to a military source in Damascus City, a large number of Syrian military personnel have been redeployed from the cities of Darayya and Dara’a to help drive back the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the Dumayr Airport front.

The nationwide ceasefire has allowed for several regiments from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to be redeployed from these once volatile fronts (e.g. Darayya) to the vast Syrian Desert, where ISIS is currently trying to establish a foothold near east Damascus.

The total number of soldiers deployed to the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains is still unknown; however, the Syrian Armed Forces are expected to counter ISIS’ offensive in the coming days.

SAA shouldn’t explain from where they take the troops they re-deploy somewhere else : if “rebels” may know it as they may have access to sat/drones intelligence, it isnt the case of the daeshbags, so it’s a way to inform them where are softer targets.

Then it should have been crystal clear when they amassed thousands of troops at Palmyra etc. Where these soldiers come from, the enemy is happy to be left alone. They won’t attack. Also, this is not about a hilltop or two any more. It seams, this is countdown time. Around Aleppo such large forces are gathering, this battle will be decisive. It is likely, the Russian airforce will step in if the SAA would need it. The question is: will IS/ISIS be given better weapons? IE: rockets they could shoot… Read more »
