BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) – A large number of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers have been deployed to the northwestern part of the Al-Ghaab Plain this afternoon, a military source told Al-Masdar.

The source revealed that the reinforcements were deployed to the government stronghold of Joureen, which is located just east of the Latakia Governorate axis.

He added that the reinforcements deployed to the Al-Ghaab Plain were from several different units, including the Syrian Army’s 4th Armored Division and Tiger Forces.

All signs are now pointing to the Al-Ghaab Plain as the next target for the Syrian Arab Army’s next major offensive in northwestern Syria.

While seizing the Idlib Governorate part of the Al-Ghaab Plain is imperative to securing Latakia, the Syrian Arab Army may run into issues if they push too far north towards Jisr Al-Shughour.

As long as the jihadist rebels control Kabani, the Syrian Arab Army will have trouble controlling the territories west of Jisr Al-Shughour.

Syrian Army & Russians together are fighting since 2015. Syrian Army & Government knows very well what support Russia has given in defeating the Jihadis so far and Russia will continue to support in concluding this war. Russia has managed to keep relationship with Turki & Israel knowing fully well that these 2 countries are directly & indirectly attacking Syria. Russians are ignoring this as of now for various reasons and just concentrating in eliminating the Jihadis. By not going after the Jihadis in the last couple of months the Russians allowed all the Jihadis to consolidate and come out… Read more »

It seems to me that you are pointing an ideal situation. The reality is totally different since the terrorists have Turkey support (money, hospitals, weapons), and their number can be feed up via Turkey borders. In addition, Turkey itself does not want to leave Idlib area at all. Nopp, without a full military offensive on Idlib, the situation in Syria will become worst and worst.

Turki is in already in deep economic shiet and cannot afford any military adventure at present. Supporting all the Takbir Jihadi factions is like throwing biscuits to your Dogs. EU nations will be taking strict action against Turki for its action against Cyprus and also for dealing with Al Qaeda Al Nusra Jihadis. Giving Money, hospital facility and weapons and allowing Jihadis to cross across Turki to Syria is all done purposely to weaken SAA. The areas of Hama is under control of National Liberation Front NLF made up of Jaysh al-Nasir and the Idlib Free Army. NLF is totally… Read more »

Twister of truth you are! Turkey’s main goal is annex Syria for itself, not to nip Al Qaeda’s claws and teeth. No one is buying your argument that HTS and Al Qaeda are two separate jihadi groups existing in Syria. HTS is to Al Qaeda what FSA is to ISIS- blood brothers.

Offensive ? Right now the meaning of this is quite strange since Russia still pleasing Turkey at Idlib.
