BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:30 P.M.) – The US Coalition and their partners from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) sent a large number of reinforcements to the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor this week.
According to local activists, a large armored convoy belonging to the SDF and US military was seen heading towards the strategic town of Hajjin.
Hajjin is a strategic town that is located near the eastern bank of the Euphrates River; it has long been an Islamic State stronghold.
The town became the headquarters for the Islamic State’s high command once they lost Al-Mayadeen to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) late last year.
The reason for the large convoy of US and SDF troops is because they are planning to storm this Islamic State stronghold in the coming days.
