BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – A large convoy of soldiers from the Syrian Republican Guard reportedly made their way to the Aleppo province this afternoon, a source told Al-Masdar News.
According to a source in the provincial capital, the Republican Guard reinforcements traveled from southern Syria to Aleppo city, where they were given orders to deploy to the western districts.
The source said that the Republican Guard reinforcements had previously participated in the East Ghouta battle between the years of 2013 and 2018.
No further details were released.
Earlier today, a military officer from the Syrian Arab Army told Al-Masdar that their forces were prepared to launch an offensive in west Aleppo if the Turkish-backed rebels do not clear the area of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham jihadists.
It appears this Syrian military buildup is in response to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s new large-scale offensive in northwestern Syria.
