Hace ya tres semanas, el Estado Islámico de Irak y el Levante (ISIS) lanzó una ofensiva a gran escala contra la zona rural del este de Damasco, en Dumayr, a fin de contrarrestar la pérdida de la antigua ciudad de Palmira (Tadmur).

Pocos días después de la ofensiva, el Estado Islámico asedió la fábrica de cemento de Badiya, la colina de al-Dakwah y múltiples puntos cercanos al aeropuerto militar de Dumayr controlados por el Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS).

Con el ISIS presionando hacia el aeropuerto militar de Dumayr, las Fuerzas Armadas Sirias enviaron una partida de refuerzos frescos a este frente desde la ciudad de Darayya.

El ejército sirio comenzó el asalto la noche del pasado jueves, recapturando múltiples colinas cercanas a la fábrica de cemento de Badiya y asediando ésta, que se encontraba ocupada por militantes del Estado Islámico.

Tras la captura de la fábrica de cementos, el Fuerzas Armadas Sirias continuaron liberando diferentes cerros del territorio, pavimentando el camino hacia la recaptura de la colina de al-Dakwah, la fábrica de al-Sini y la estación de al-Safa.

Como resultado de este asalto de tres días, el ISIS ha sufrido numerosas bajas además de perder el territorio capturado días atrás.
