DAMASCUS, SYRIA (11:25 P.M.) – Following the capture of four villages yesterday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to seize an additional two villages on Monday in a region roughly 20 kilometers west of Raqqa city.
Securing a new stretch of land on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, the predominately Kurdish SDF were able to impose full control over the villages of Salhabiyat Al-Gharbiyah and Ker Hamo.
Notably, this specific advance cutoff a handful of nearby ISIS-held villages from Raqqa city. The Islamic State deployed at least one suicide bomber today, capturing the event on camera:
With suicide bombers and booby traps used sporadically in the countryside, some 4,000 ISIS insurgents are preparing for the defense of Raqqa city, considered the heart of the self-proclaimed caliphate.
