DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:30 P.M.) – On Tuesday, two ISIS members were arrested deep behind enemy lines after a house in downtown Manbij was raided by the Asayish (YAT/Kurdish police).

Following the YAT crackdown, three automatic rifles, large quantities of ammunition, two swords and several military uniforms were seized. The Kurdish police officers acted upon an anonymous source who had tipped them off regarding the ISIS hideout.

The captive ISIS militants were reportedly caught completely off-guard and will face prison time in a Kurdish-run jail. Manbij, located in the northeast part of Aleppo province, has otherwise been free from ISIS since Kurdish forces overran the city during the summer of 2016.

The US-backed ‘Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) have largely withdrawn from the Manbij region, allowing their affiliates in the Asayish and Manbij Military Council (MMC) to enforce security over the predominately Arab city.
