BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:10 P.M.) – The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) is allegedly withdrawing from Iraq’s Sinjar region, Turkish state owned Anadolu News Agency reported this evening.

Citing the Governor of the Sinjar District, Mahma Khalil, Anadolu Agency claimed that the withdrawal followed repeated demands by the local population for the PKK to leave the region.

“Sinjar’s local administration on Thursday officially asked the PKK to leave the area,” Khalil told the Anadolu Agency.

The district will now be fully protected by pro-government Hashd Al-Sha’abi (var. Popular Mobilization Units) fighters.
