BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:50 A.M.) – The Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) downed a Turkish reconnaissance drone that was seen flying over their positions in northern Syria earlier this month
According to an official statement from the YPG, their forces downed the Turkish reconnaissance drone over the Ayn Diwar area near the Syrian-Turkis border.
An “unmanned aerial vehicle…was conducting surveillance within borders of Derik city of Jazira region during the first week of 2019,” the YPG’s statement begn.
“Turkish soldiers started recording from inside their base, the footage recovered from the UAV (a commercial drone)” shows, the statement read.
