BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:40 P.M.) – The YPG’s defensive line in the northern part of Afrin has collapsed, leaving the Turkish-backed rebels with almost all of the territory located northeast of the city.

According to pro-opposition activists, the Turkish-backed rebels captured at least ten villages today, along with the entire Suleiman Shah Mountain in northern Afrin.

Among the villages captured by the Turkish-backed rebels today were the following: Kafr Rum, Zalqah, Sheikh Abdel-Rahman, Houzan, Qort Qolak, and Al-Tafleh.

The Turkish-backed rebels are now within 800 meters of Afrin city.

Kurds traitors deserved that since they didnt support Syrian legitimate government. It is easier to Fight with Turkey occupier and their puppets than kurds who play to be civilian army on syrian side then stab syria from back many times by raising Israeil flag holding election to separate from syria and giving coelition forces excuses to attack and kill SAA.
God destroyed syrian terrorist enemies with syrian neighbor enemy.

As far as I remember the Syrian gov abandoned Kurds instead of trying to protect them when Al Nusra and Isis came… And they had to manage to surivive. How do you call that? I call it treason.

Assads has just made a strategic mistake. Kurrds may be tough, but reasonable. Erdogan is a mass murderer islamo-fascist dreaming of an Ottoman empire. Good luck.

US-backed? Don’t see any US-backing now.

The Kurds brought this on themselves by selling out their country, and getting in bed with the Yanks. The US got what they wanted, they have strategy bases in Syria. Kurds are now no longer required, hence the nod from Washington for Turkey to just go ahead and wipe them out.

Well, they’re confronted to an air force which bought 23,000 guided bombs about 2-4 years ago with at best, a few ManPADS not operating over 3500/4000m ceiling.
Be it Syrian govt, Russians or Yankees, nobody is supplying SAMs or does anything to implement a No Fly Zone…
Faith means bullshit when hammered from above.
As things are going, they’re likely to abandon Afrin and as Bob said, good luck to Assad to kick Erdogan’s a*s.
It’s absolutely disgusting.

If the YPG does not want to sacrifice civilians and infrastructure they cannot hold Afrin city.

The YPG are no Takfiri terrorists like the ones that fought in Aleppo and Ghouta to destroy and sacrifice.

So the YPG may withdraw. But the Turks will ethnically cleanse Afrin city anyhow. So the YPG may decide to make a stand and a city is the best location. Let the Turks spend their 23.000 bombs there. The Turks have no TOS systems. So the environment will help the YPG defenders.
