The predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) – backed by Jaysh Al-Thuwwar of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – have intensified their assault on the extremist rebel defenses in Aleppo City, striking several sites inside the Bani Zayd and Bastan Al-Pasha districts.

According to local activists, the YPG and SDF have taken full control of the Youth Housing area of the Bani Zayd District after a violent battle with Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Jabhat Al-Shamiyah, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) on Thursday evening.

In addition to capturing the Youth Housing area of the Bani Zayd District, the YPG and SDF officially taken full control of the Al-Castillo Roundabout, resulting in the extremist rebels being cutoff from their main supply line in the north.

Clashes are still ongoing inside the city between several different groups; however, the majority of the fighting is taking place between the YPG and extremist rebels.
