BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 P.M.) – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused the Syrian government on Sunday of blocking their Al-Raqqa campaign during a meeting with the U.S. Coalition.
According to pro-SDF Ara News Agency, the Kurdish officials discussed ways to stop the Syrian government from obstructing the Al-Raqqa campaign.
“This was one of the most important challenges that must be addressed,” SDF officials told the coalition.
“Therefore, the international coalition must do what it has to do to deter the Syrian regime in its violations on the federal border,” the officials added, as quoted by Ara News.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has made remarkable progress in southeast Al-Raqqa, liberating several towns en route to the Deir Ezzor provincial border.
While it is not clear just ‘how’ the Syrian government is obstructing the SDF’s Al-Raqqa campaign, they are most likely frustrated over the fact they will not be able to expand south of the city.
