The Kurdish police (Asayish) intensified their attack against the pro-government forces in Qamishli on Thursday, resulting in a series of violent clashes around the Security Box and Al-Wasta District.
Following a fierce battle at the Allaya Prison with the Arab tribes of the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Asayish imposed full control over this military site located at the eastern outskirts of Qamishli.
In an attempt to mediate between the two parties, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was able to to quell the National Defense Forces; however, they experienced resistance from the Asayish, who reportedly opened fire on the soldiers.
As a result of this provocation, the Syrian Arab Army retaliated against the Asayish and forced them to scurry away.
The situation remains tense, but local sources confirmed that the fighting has died down considerable since yesterday’s clashes.
