DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:00 P.M.) – Earlier today, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) seized over a dozen villages in an pocket of territory in rural Raqqa which was recently cutoff from the Islamic State mainland.

With only a few wounded ISIS militants left behind to defend the isolated area, seasoned YPG units quickly managed to impose full control over the villages and hamlets of Jurn al-Aswad, Al-Zahera, Qaryah Armaniyah, Abu Al-Hassan, Marj adh Dhibat, Qaltah, Abbarah, Khaiwat Ubyad, Hulw Abd, Al-Mathir, Al-Hafyar, Hilo Abed, and Nuwayran.

The Kurdish advance, 25 kilometers north of Raqqa city, officially concludes phase four of the Euphrates Wrath offensive and secures a launching pad towards the provincial capital.

Kurdish sappers have now been deployed to clear mines and booby traps in the newly liberated villages while Kurdish forward units are regrouping for the upcoming fifth phase of the US-backed Euphrates Wrath offensive.
