On Friday morning, the People’s Protection Units (YPG) broke-through the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) frontline defenses in northeast Kobane (‘Ayn Al-‘Arab), capturing the strategic Kobane Municipal Building and the Al-Khanasa School, while also killing scores of militants and seizing their heavy weaponry.
In southern Kobane, the YPG carried out a number of raids, targeting ISIS hideouts and supply routes to their entrenched fighters inside the city. A total of 22 ISIS militants were killed in the last 24 hours, along with 3 dozen others who were wounded in battle.
On 48th Street in Kobane, Anti-ISIS Coalition aircrafts bombarded ISIS positions in this strategic area, destroying a confirmed 2 pick-up trucks that were armed 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns. The Anti-ISIS Coalition has reportedly launched 17 airstrikes on the city of Kobane in the last 24 hours, as the YPG and YPJ advance towards the Yarmouk School near 48th St.
