BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:10 P.M.) – A massive explosion rocked the city of Idlib on Friday after two car bombs were detonated at the Al-Jarra Roundabout.

According to a report from Idlib, two car bombs were detonated at the Al-Jarra Roundabout in the Bustan Ghanoum area, causing two massive explosions that could be felt throughout Idlib city.

As a result of the attack, at least two Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham fighters were killed, along with the attorney general for the HTS-led Syrian Salvation Government.

Some Syrian opposition activists have taken to social media to accuse the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) sleeper cells in the area.

Recently, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham launched a major security operation to arrest and eliminate these Islamic State sleeper cells.

The Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham operation has been relatively successful, as they managed to arrest one of the highest-ranking Islamic State commanders in the Idlib Governorate.

The fall of Baghuz is a major moment in the campaign against IS. The Iraqi government declared victory against the militants in 2017.

But the group is far from defeated. US officials believe IS may have 15,000 to 20,000 armed adherents active in the region, many of them in sleeper cells, and that it will return to its insurgent roots while attempting to rebuild.

Even as its defeat in Baghuz was imminent, IS released a defiant audio recording purportedly from its spokesman Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, asserting that the caliphate was not finished.

@Rido ilahi, and as the NZ shooting and hate crime against innocent Muslims shows, IS is endangering all Muslims with its hate crimes committed in the name of the Ummah..

True statement. Here is another to think about…How many Iraqis died due to both gulf wars and how many died due to sanctions? How many were forced to leave Iraq due to sanctions and war? Multiple Actors to blame for the deaths of Muslims. Also Muslims were not the only victims but Christians also which the western world has ignored. DO not forget the continent of Africa or the Palestinians. A priest was just stabbed in Canada at Saint Josephs oratory. He survived because the knife broke. Currently in the world the most persecuted group are Christians.

@ Rido, I fear not ISIS or any Jihadist but those who fund and arm them. When the funding and arming they cease to exist. Make no mistake all European attackers when on governments watch lists.

Correction.. Without funding and arming they cease to exist.
