BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:15 A.M.) – The leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Joumblatt, told Al-Akbar on Tuesday that he will likely turn down an invitation from Saudi Arabia to visit the Kingdom.
“I will not go to Saudi Arabia if an invitation was extended to me with the aim of restoring the March 14 alliance or for waging the elections in a united front,” he told the daily in an interview, as quoted by Naharnet.
“I have not traveled before because I don’t want to be part of one axis against another and I will not do it today,” he added, describing his relations with Saudi Arabia as “stiff,” he continued.
Furthermore, the Lebanese MP believes Saudi Arabia may blame him for comments he made regarding the Saudi Aramco oil issue and ongoing war in Yemen.
Joumblatt added that while he not yet receive an invitation, he will most certainly decline if offered.
