BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – The Jordanian Army sent reinforcements to the Syrian border this morning as Syrian troops were steadily advancing towards the Nassib Crossing, the Reuters News Agency reported.
The army, which had deployed more armored vehicles in the area, has set in motion “contingency plans to face any eventuality” as the Syrian government offensive closes in on the Nassib crossing, diplomatic sources told Reuters.
The Jordanian Army will now be joined by the Russian military along the Syrian border, following a new agreement that was established between the latter and the rebels at the Nassib Crossing.
Earlier today, the rebels agreed to reconcile with the Syrian government in eastern Daraa, putting an end to the three week long battle in region of the province.
The Russian military police are now deploying to eastern Daraa and the Jordanian border to ensure the safety of the displaced people returning to the region.
