Jihadists belonging to the Jaish Al-Nasr faction launched an offensive west of the Ithriya-Khanasser road in a bid to cut the government supply route to Aleppo.
Taken by surprise, the Syrian forces stationed in Mahmyat Al-Ghazal withdrew hardly sustaining any casualties. A military source informed Al-Masdar that this situation is of minor importance due to the fact that the aforementioned region lays 6 km to the west of the road with two major towns in between.
According to the same source, the situation is contained and is most likely a distraction for the Syrian Army from the grinding battlefields of south Aleppo. It would be hardly surprising if the Syrian government troops capture the area by the morning.
