DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:00 P.M.) – Heavy battles ripped through the jihadi-controlled Harasta suburb as the Syrian Army’s ground forces controlled new areas in the Eastern Ghouta region.
Led by the SAA’s elite 4th Armored Division, the government troops scored, today, a substantial gain in al-Ajami neighborhood in Harasta, securing two mosques used y militants as command headquarters.
According to an informed military source, the Syrian forces seized parts of the road linking Harasta to the rebel-bastion of Douma, and uncovered a network on tunnels.
“We aim at separating the two cities (Harasta and Douma)in order to neutralize militants”, the same source added.
Meanwhile, Army units recaptured Hawsh al-Dawahirah and Al-Shifouniyah towns after fierce battles with the Saudi-backed Jaysh al-Islam.
