BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:45 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels, with support from the Turkish Armed Forces, have begun an operation to retake the strategic city of Saraqib in the northeastern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

Led by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), the jihadist rebels reportedly begun the offensive this morning in an attempt to end the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) Idlib-Aleppo campaign and reestablish control over several areas they have lost.

While no gains have been reported thus far, a source from the Syrian Arab Army has reported heavy artillery from the jihadist lines in the southern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate.

Prior to today’s offensive, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave the Syrian Arab Army until the end of February to withdraw from the areas they have captured in the Idlib and Aleppo governorates.

However, it appears that Turkey will not wait for the Syrian Army to withdraw as the jihadist rebels and the so-called “Syrian National Army” (SNA) have already begun their operation to retake the areas they lost.

Turkey has now started its war in Syria. I question why did Syria not prevent the link up of Turkish forces and equipment with Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS)? They could have sabotaged the roads and begin bombing the vehicles. Now the SAA has let them strengthen the rebels to their detriment. God bless the SAA forces. They will have quite a battle ahead. Will Russia help them? Their mission in Syria is to rid Syria of the terrorists. Surely with Erdogan joining forces with the terrorists, Turkey too has become a terrorist occupation force.

This is BAD news for Syria and its war torn people and army! Turkey won’t have Al Qaida and Muslim Brotherhood flee to its nation, so they are ready to defend their last resort in Idlib. This has been co-ordinated with the USA. We saw the signs of raprochement. My assumption is, that this will be fought out in a proxy war with SAA vs Jihadists with the ground support of Turkey to the Jihadists and Russia’s air support for the SAA and allies. The government alliance is well established and succesful. I doubt, the Jihadists will hand over military… Read more »
