A member of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) carried out a suicide operation at Qal’at Shalaf tonight, killing several soldiers from the Syrian Marines in the process.

As a result of this suicide bombing, the Syrian Marines and Desert Hawks were forced to withdraw from Qal’at Shalaf to the key mountaintop town of Kinsibba.

However, not long after losing Qal’at Shalaf, the Syrian Armed Forces also decided to withdraw from Kinsibba due to their exposed positions that made their defenses vulnerable to a jihadist attack.

With Tal Qal’at under the control of the jihadist rebels, the Syrian Armed Forces are not be able to maintain control of Kinsibba for very long.

One of the most incompetent armies in the entire world by far, no wonder Hezbollah hate working with/listening to them.

I have to agree with you here. I’ve been cheering the Syrian Army since the war began, but honestly their performance has been nothing but disappointing. Do they want the Red Army to effectively restore their country for them? I truly hope the next breaking news will not be about the loss of Palmyra – again!!

You guys CAN report this same story without glorifying terrorists in pictures!

Stop doing DAESH’s advertising! The story should read something like this:

“Terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra launched a successful VBIED attack on the Syrian Arab Army in Lattakia province. forcing them to withdraw from Qal’at Shalaf to Kinsibba.

Not long after the Desert Hawks and Syrian Marines decided to pull back from Kinsibba due to their exposed positions.

These strategically important mountains on the Turkish border have changed hands several times in recent weeks.”

If they had to go to war with Israel, IDF would be done with them in 2 weeks. Just as much time they would need to physically drive from one end of Syria to another. As many others said, truly incompetent army wasting lives of young men for nothing.

You need AC-130-like gunships or (lots of) COIN aircraft to do this without getting ruined (or full NATO or USAF air power). SyAAF hasn’t such aircrafts, even Russia although Su-25 can be nice for COIN but Su-25 can’t loiter for long and has even no mid-air refuelling probe. In other terms, Russia should imply herself at another level as she does. As I’ve stated many times : Assad could simply decide to make aerial ‘technicals’ by buying 2nd hand air cargos, fill’em with auto-cannons from disabled aircrafts like the GSH-30-2 (30mm, 3000RPM), the 57mm from ZSU-57-2 anti-aircraft gun and a… Read more »

Pathetic. This is mountainous area, meaning truck could approach only down a road. Saa are still not smart enough to prevent the only freaking thing that could kill them. Simply disgusting. The commander should be sacked immidiately.

Mountain woodland is the hardest terrain to fight. This is job for our “chasseurs alpins” and other alike specialized units.

Consider Tigers approaching Kuwaires AB, in the wide open plain terrain, where IS sent truck after truck and yet they were smart enough to prepare defenses. Are you telling me that they can deny suicide trucks in Kuweires plain, where they can approach from any side and not travel down roads, but Hawks and Marines cannot plug two or thee roads the truch had to have taken to approach. How many men died to take Kinsiba? All for nothing! Someone should be beld accountable. Someone should lose his position and be demoted. This is wrong on so many levels.

Pathetic. I said yesterday that they wouldn’t keep it for a day. They have absolutely no b***s and they struggle so much against an enemy with no air force, despite having one themselves, it’s laughable.
