Latakia, Syria (11:00 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) launched a wide-scale counter-offensive in the northern Latakia countryside on Wednesday in order to recapture the territory they lost to the Syrian Armed Forces over the last 48 hours.
Launching the offensive from two different axes on Wednesday, the jihadist rebels attempted to bypass the defenses of the Syrian Armed Forces at Kinsibba and Jabal Al-Qal’at.
However, this jihadist offensive was over before it began, thanks in large part to the stiff defenses of Syrian Armed Forces.
According to the Desert Hawks Brigade field correspondent Eyad Al-Hosein, the Syrian Armed Forces did not give up one meter of territory to the jihadists; instead, they inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy units that were attempting to advance today.
As a result of the failed assault, the jihadist rebels were forced to retreat north towards the Turkish Hatay Province, as Syrian military choppers chased to the border.
