BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:15 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham launched a counter-offensive in the northern countryside of Hama on Tuesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions at the small village of Ma’ardes.
Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham began their assault by sending three SVBIEDs towards the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at Ma’ardes; however, these suicide attacks were reportedly foiled before they could reach their intended target on Tuesday morning.
Following the failed SVBIED attacks, the jihadist rebels launched their ground assault at Ma’ardes, where they were confronted by a large force of Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah soldiers.
Despite claims of its capture by the opposition activists, Ma’ardes has not been captured by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, but intense clashes are still ongoing between the two forces.
