BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:40 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham have expanded their territorial presence in the Idlib Governorate, today, after launching a big attack against their former allies in the southern part of the province.
According to reports from the Idlib province, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham captured the towns of Naqir, Soutah Al-Deir, Tarmala, Abideen, Arnbeh, and Safuhan after the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front (NLF) retreated to the nearby city of Ma’arat Al-Nu’man.
Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham is now preparing to storm Ma’arat Al-Nu’man and the remaining towns that are still under the control of the National Liberation Front in southern Idlib.
Should Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham capture Ma’arat Al-Nu’man, it will be the second largest city in Syria that is under their control.
However, capturing Ma’arat Al-Nu’man may not be easy for Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, as many of the city’s residents have repeatedly protested their presence inside the district.
