BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:10 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels launched a surprise offensive in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate on Friday.
This surprise operation resulted in the capture of several points, including Tal Rasho and Tal Ballout, by Jaysh Al-Izza, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.
While they later retreated from these sites after failing to secure the area, the jihadist rebels proved they are still capable of launching these powerful attacks against the Syrian Army and their allies, despite their previous battlefield woes.
According to an army source in Damascus, the jihadist offensive has once again proved these jihadists are not defeated. The source said these jihadist groups still receive support from Turkey, who allows them to operate freely within their zone of influence in northern Syria.
He would add that the Syrian and Russian authorities are well aware of this threat in northern Syria, which is why they are preparing to restart their operations in the Idlib Governorate.
At the same time, the Syrian Arab Army is still launching attacks on the key town of Kabani. Despite the prevalence of these attacks, the jihadist rebels have managed to repel all of the army’s attempts, further proving they are still relatively strong in the area.
