BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels attempted a hit and run attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces in southwestern Idlib this morning.
Led by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, the jihadist rebels attempted to attack the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the northeastern outskirts of Qasabiyah.
The Syrian Army reportedly spotted the jihadist rebels before they could attack their positions, resulting in the death of a number of HTS militants.
Following their losses, the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham jihadists withdrew from the outskirts of Qasabiyah to friendly lines in the Zawiya Mountains.
A source from the Syrian military said the attack was not an offensive by the jihadists, but rather, an attempt to inflict heavy damage to their defenses at Qasabiyah.
