On Monday morning, the Jihadist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham shot down a Syrian SU-22 aircraft that was seen flying a reconnaissance mission over the strategic village of Tal Al-‘Eiss in southern Aleppo.

The pilot was able to eject from the aircraft before it crashed; however, this  resulted in his subsequent capture by the Jihadist rebel forces near Tal Al-‘Eiss.

According to Syrian government officials, the SU-22 was downed by an anti-aircraft missile (MANPAD) that was allegedly in the possession of the Jihadist forces on Monday.

As of now, the use of a MANPAD to down the aircraft is mere speculation; it has not been proven, despite several claims made by social media activists.
