Idlib, Syria (7:55 P.M.) – Not long after clashes broke out between the internationally-recognized Jund Al-Aqsa terrorist group and the Islamist rebels of Ahrar Al-Sham, fighting burnt through the heart of the jihadist-held bastion of Idlib.
Ahrar Al-Sham were able to expel Jund Al-Aqsa (Al-Qaeda franchise) from several villages in Idlib’s countryside within a short period of time: Ma’arrat Al-Nu’man, Al-Hamdidiyah, Jarjanaz, Sarmada, and Al-Mastouma. Dozens of fighters were killed on both sides while Ahrar Al-Sham fighters were able to loot a BMP.
On the other hand, Jund Al-Aqsa militants were able to oust Ahrar’s presence in Khan Sheikhoun while simultaneously attacking their checkpoints on the Tulaysiyah axis, a town recently captured from the government forces in northern Hama.
Hell broke loose yesterday when Ahrar Al-Sham accused Jund Al-Aqsa of harboring ISIS sleeper cells and threatened to wipe out its adversary if it didn’t comply with their demands. Fighting is expected to escalate further as groups like Zinki express solidarity with the former.
