DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:55 A.M.) – A surge of assassinations has swept the jihadi-held areas in northwest Aleppo as militants prepare to implement the Russia-Turkey demilitarization zone agreement.
Yesterday, three militants were killed when unknown assailants in balaclavas stormed their base near in al-Layramoun area along the frontlines with the Syrian forces.
The slain militants – one of them is a foreign jihadists – belong to the al-Qaeda-linked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham group, formerly known as Nusra Front.
The assailants seized the weapons and pickup truck after finishing off the three militants.
According to unconfirmed reports, the assailants are a special mission unit affiliated with the Syrian Army; which aims at carrying out daring tasks behind enemy lines.
The claim was made after the attackers were reportedly seen escaping the scene toward government-held areas in Jamiyat al-Zahraa district.
The Syrian al-Qaeda-offshoot delivered a huge military parade in the areas they control northwest Aleppo, in a stark defiance of the Russuia-Turkey agreement.
