BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:10 A.M.) – The Free Syrian Army (FSA) attempted to carry out an ambush against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops inside the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate on Sunday.
Led by their Jaysh Al-Izza faction, the Free Syrian Army attempted to ambush the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division troops on Sunday near the large town of Souran.
However, the Syrian Arab Army was able to spot the Islamist rebels from Jaysh Al-Izza before they could carry out the attack on their troops posted near the front-lines in the demilitarized zone.
According to a military communique, the Syrian Arab Army foiled the Islamist operation before it could be carried out against their troops near Souran.
The military communique said that the Syrian Arab Army was able to kill and wound several of the Jaysh Al-Izza infiltrators before they abandoned their Sunday operation.
These infiltration attempts by the Islamist rebels have increased over the last month as the situation along the demilitarized zone continues to deteriorate.
