Damascus, Syria (11:00 A.M.) – Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) launched a counter-attack against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the northeastern countryside of the Damascus Governorate on Wednesday, targeting the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains.
According to Jaysh Al-Islam’s social media wing, their forces managed to recapture Jabal Al-Afa’ay in the eastern Qalamoun after a fierce battle with the Islamic State terrorists on Wednesday morning.
In addition to their attack at Jabal Al-Afa’ay, Jaysh Al-Islam launched several attacks along the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains in order to recover the points they lost to the Islamic State over the last 24 hours.
Clashes are still ongoing in the Qalamoun Mountains, as Jaysh Al-Islam presses the Islamic State’s defenses near the key town of Dumayr.
