BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – The Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam claimed on Sunday that their forces foiled an attack that was carried out by the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the Afrin countryside.
According to Jaysh Al-Islam’s official media wing, their forces thwarted an attempt by the YPG to infiltrate their positions at the town of Deir Mushmush.
Jaysh Al-Islam did not provide specifics, nor did the YPG confirm these reports from the Islamist rebel group.
This claim by Jaysh Al-Islam comes just 24 hours after the YPG carried out a powerful series of attacks against the Turkish-backed rebels in the Afrin countryside.
Over the last ten days, the YPG forces have killed at least 15 Turkish-backed rebels in the Afrin region, with at least half of the casualties coming in the last 72 hours.
