Latakia, Syria (7:09 A.M.) Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest), led by Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), launched a second round of attacks at the Zuwayqat Mountains of northeast Latakia on Thursday morning after the first assault was repelled by Syrian Armed Forces.

The second assault on the Zuwayqat Mountains would prove successful for Jaysh Al-Fateh, as they were able to force the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to withdraw south in order to avoid being overrun.

The official statement released by Jabhat Al-Nusra that confirms their capture of the Zuwayqat Mountains in northeast Latakia.

Despite capturing the Zuwayqat Mountains on Thursday morning; it will be very difficult for Jaysh Al-Fateh to maintain control over it without seizing points that surround the mountaintop.

In response to Jaysh Al-Fateh’s success, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) has launched a second round of airstrikes over the key town of Kabbani,  as their allies on the ground attempt to regroup.

Wonder how long it takes the islamists to recapture Salma. What about the ‘huge, unstoppable’ northern Latakia offensive by the Desert Hawks?

SAA would have lost the war by now had the Snack-bars had aviation. It is amazing how quickly SAA get overrun even though they have 100% advantage in the air.
