Moments ago, Jaish Al-Islam announced the initiation of an operation codenamed “Zat Al-Rikaa” in Eastern Ghouta. The military operation is said to span a front from Marj Military Airport to the Agricultural Research Center.
Jaish Al-Islam’s military spokesperson informed Al-Masdar News about the nature of the operation.
“The operation is in fact a series of ‘inghimasi’ (infiltration) attacks aimed at three targets. The first target is Marj Airport, the second is Badr Mosque which lies between the airport and the Bilaliyah region, and the third is the Agricultural Research Center.” he informed.
“The goal of those attacks is the destruction of the first defense lines of the Assad militias, and the advance on the aforementioned fronts.”
It is important to note that this operation could have been the topic of the meeting between the Jaish Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman leaders in the town of Hamouriyah. The attack is most likely an attempt to alleviate pressure from the northern fronts of Eastern Ghouta where government forces are attempting to advance in Hawsh Nasri.
