The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham have ushered in a new reign of terror over the civilians in the provincial capital of Idlib; this has included kidnapping religious figures, executing civilian government employees, and implementing a Shariah Council to govern the city.
One such case was that of Roula Al-Zeer, who was apprehended by Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham militants in her home and then summarily executed in front of her two young children for the alleged “crime” of taking a picture with the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and his wife Asma.
According to a source in Idlib, Roula was a kind-hearted teacher, who took great pride in educating Syria’s youth – she was pictured with the Syrian President and his wife during a ceremony honoring teachers around the country for their commitment to scholastic excellence and achievement.
Roula had no connections to the Syrian Government or any affiliation with the armed militants from the Syrian Opposition.
Continuing their implementation of some misinterpreted version of Islamic jurisprudence, Jabhat Al-Nusra militants kidnapped Father Ibrahim Farah of the Antiochian Orthodox Church of Idlib City for unknown reasons.
Christian activists in Idlib City have been unable to confirm whether or not Father Ibrahim is still alive; however, they were able to confirm the culprits were Jabhat Al-Nusra.
Two local Christian business owners in Idlib City were arrested by Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham for the “crime” of selling alcohol to patrons – they have yet to be released by militants.
