Yesterday, Jabhat al-Nusra (Syrian al-Qaeda branch) raided the headquarters of Jaish al-Tahrir (Free Syrian Army group) in the towns of Kafr Anbel, Hazazen and Ma’arat Harmeh.
Some 40 fighters were arrested by the al-Nusra Front across the Idlib governorate, including the leader of Jaish al-Tahrir, Muhammed al-Ghabi, himself along with his brothers.
Furthermore, Jabhat al-Nusra seized all weapons and ammunition held by the FSA group, including a batch of U.S. supplied TOW anti-tank missiles.
A Jabhat al-Nusra official accused the FSA group of corruption and conspiring against the al-Qaeda group in an attempt to legitimize the arrests of FSA members.
Idlib is ruled by Jaish al-Fatah, an Islamist coalition co-founded by Jabhat al-Nusra.
