News broke out earlier that the Shura Council of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Al Qaeda’s branch in Syria, voted to cut ties with Al-Qaeda following increasing reports of an agreement between Russia and the US on targeting the organization in Syria.
The terror organization’s spokesperson declared that it is not sinful if the jihadist group changed its name to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and that such an arrangement would come after many meetings between Al Qaeda’s leaderships in Yemen and Afghanistan.
It is unclear if the rebranding arrangement would remove the group from the list of internationally recognized terror groups or negate the chances of being targeted by the US military.
