Fresh off their failed offensive in west Aleppo, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – in coordination with Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen – launched another assault at the Great Prophet Mosque inside the Al-Zahra Association this morning.

The Islamist militant forces conducted their assault around 9:30 A.M. (Damascus Time) on Thursday morning, when they stormed the Syrian Arab Army’s frontline defenses at the Great Prophet Mosque; however, despite repeated attempts by Jabhat Al-Nusra to bypass their defenses, the Syrian Armed Forces repelled the attack.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces killed a confirmed 13 enemy combatants, including two fighters identified as “Mohammad Fares Al-Younis” and “Bassam Mahmoud ‘Abdullah.”

The Syrian Arab Army – in coordination with Liwaa Al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigades) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – continued their assault on the Scientific Research Facility outside of the New Aleppo Quarter – firefights are reportedly still ongoing with no map changes.

Meanwhile, north of Aleppo City, Jabhat Al-Nusra and company launched a total of 22 rockets into the cities of Al-Zahra and Nubl from their positions Al-Mayer; this is believed to be a retaliatory strike against the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah for their offensive at the city of Al-Zabadani in western Syria.

The Free Syrian Army’s 55th Battalion has reportedly withdrawn from the town of Al-Mazra’ in northern Aleppo after fierce clashes with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham on Thursday morning.

In east Aleppo, ISIS attempted to infiltrate into the southern perimeter of the Kuweires Military Airbase; however, they were repelled by the Syrian Armed Forces stationed at this strategically located airport near the city of Safira.
