BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:50 A.M.) – The Israeli satellite “Amous-2” captured several photos of the Hmaymim Airport in southern Latakia this week, revealing much of the Russian military’s weapons arsenal at this coastal base.

Perhaps the most eye-opening image the Israeli satellite captured was of the Russian Iskandar Rocket Launcher, which has been suspected to be at this airport since March 2016.

The Iskandar Rocket Launcher is a highly advanced system that fires ground-to-ground missiles from short distances as far as 400-500km away..

Earlier this week, the Russian military began the process to decrease the size of their military presence in Syria, marking the second time during this war that they have reduced their personnel presence.

@AMN : Maybe should you verify the source!
It doesn’t looks like Hmaymim AT ALL!!!!!!!

That’s even why I didn’t posted this one.
BTW, very unusual Israelis to publish mil-sat-intel. If it really comes from them : I don’t remember other cases…
BTW : it’s not an airport in Crimea, Kaliningrad or Kola peninsula. Thus, I won’t verify all airports on planet, I’m not paid at it 😉

Thanks to aviation sites, it was easy to get lists of airports/airbases with coordinates, sat-view etc… The picture ain’t the tarmac from anything in Syria, Russia or Iran!!!! Note that I wouldn’t put ballistic missiles on an air-base : it’s the stupidest place to have these!!!! I’d rather chose a glade as launchpad and have the vehicles covered by the canopy or have a hangar in some industrial zone or sticking to a mall and use the parking as a launchpad and, BTW, military style vehicles wouldn’t be the best to my taste if I was in charge of ballistic… Read more »

Actually, it is Hmaymim airbase. There are still old satellite images loaded on Google maps server. According to shadows seen on the picture from the Israeli satellite this picture should be taken on the eastern side of the runway.
There were reports that Russians enlarged Hmaymim airbase. Obviously, one of these adaptations was made at the eastern side of the runway. Compare Israeli picture with this detail Google maps detail:

I did the comparison .. as as i replied earlier to Daeshbaags Sux, there are definite similarities. i did wonder whether the data on Google earth might be outdated, but I’m surprised photos didnt emerge earlier of the building/extension work going on. the work would have taken a while and would suggest that Google Earth is out of date by several months at least.

I’m inclined to agree. having compared the photo ‘evidence’ with the google earth coordinates you kindly provided, i noted that there are similarities – but nothing more. I’m wondering whether the Israeli image is a composite?

Wanna bet Israel is gonna join BRICS? BTW, it’s very easy to have EMP protection! Just need a f*****g Faraday cage! Just link digital electronics through optic fiber! Dassault did it aboard Rafale, same for Mirage-2000 : hey, they have nuclear capability, better be EMP protected if you’re supposed to drop nukes. BTW, never head of GBU-31(V)X or AGM-158B JASSM-ER? Hey, just blow a thermonuke out of atmosphere with a ballistic missile, you don’t even need re-entry to do so and BTW, they’re already on orbit : Goldeneye ain’t sci-fi and nothing new : US did a 5MT extra-atmospheric nuking… Read more »

Yawn, I really manage to trigger you ah? Yawn squared, you relly like to write, long very long books, wich I then destroy in a few sentences, Atropus weights 130g no side effects like with your stup1d emp atmosph. blas, Atropus cover 400m per device leaving everything else non disturbed. your statement about using faraday cages denotes your complete ignorance about practical difficulties in weapons design.I destroyed your 1st line, on a side note I am not a copy and paste so please dont lecture me in things as well known as traditional EMP tests, we are talking making things… Read more »
