DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:10 P.M.) – A Patriot missile fired by the Israeli Army at a UAV that approached the borders from Syria has missed its target before the drone moved away.

A spokesman of the Israeli Defense Force said the drone returned back to the Syrian territories where it originally came from.

It is not yet clear who launched the drone. However, Israel shot down what it claimed to be an Iranian drone last February. This was further developed to Israeli jets delivering airstrikes against Iranian targets inside Syria.

This comes as the Syrian Army launches the long-awaited offensive of southwest Syria with aims at reclaiming all rebel-held territories in Daraa and Quneitra provinces.

Wonderful : except for the last phrase which is ridiculous to anyone seriously understanding the military subject, you totally confirmed my point on the Israeli commercial strategy!!! It’s not really targetting the public but in fact, the lawmakers who, usually, are more likely accountants than military experts. Wel, you’re a little wrong about costs : a small military drone able to purvey real time imaging, target coordinates, laser designation, etc, and not to be jammed easily, I don’t think you may find anything under 100k, commonly, they’re more around $300k. For a Patriot missile, it’s $2M for the newest version… Read more »

ROFL : you’re as realistic as Abu Bark, you know, the ISIS troll.
You have too low IQ and too huge lack of knowledges to counterargument anything, so all your specie can do is to rely on personal attacks.
It only proves how low you are and why you ALWAYS end defeated and humiliated by the k**es and also why we respect them why you’re as much respected as rabid dogs.

If the Israelis wanted to intervene, just the fact that Syria and Lebanon harbour the UNSC-banned Hezbollah’s armed branch or the fact that Iran funds and arms Hezb and Hamas are already casus-belli. Under international law, Israel doesn’t needs a dubious false-flag if they want to kick Iran, Syria or Lebanon a$$es… Why d’you think none of the trio is complaining about such strikes at the ICP? Now if you consider some roaches crossing the border and getting medical treatment, let me remind you that David Magen Adom is full member of the Red Cross International Committee! Once you sign… Read more »

Hehe, the MiM-104D (PAC-2/GEM) Patriot are getting retired, being replaced by “David’s Sling”. These are the early 90’s version used during the Desert Storm operation, delivered in emergency when Saddam was raining Scuds. Actually, everytime they shot a Patriot against a small observation drone, it missed. These systems were never intended to go after such small targets which are job for Iron-Dome, you use MiM-104 against Scuds, Toshkas or full sized Fighter-Jets/MALE drones. These are here for medium/high altitude engagement while small recon drones are low altitude assets. So, why using a… $2M rocket while the $25k Tamir interceptor in… Read more »

MiM didn’t work against Scud missile. It can take out F14,F16,F18. Faster than mac 2 aircraft will escape it by simply turn around and maneuver.

Scuds and alikes have already been taken out by MiM-104 (Patriot), including recently with Yemeni customised Scuds. First Yemeni Scud to be shot down was so on June 6, 2015 MIM is the habitual designation of US SAMs, e.g. MIM-23 Hawk, MiM-14 Nike Hercules. The FIM designation is used for ManPADS, e.g. FiM-92 Stinger, RIM is used for US-Navy SAMs, e.g. RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile, RIM-162 Evolved SeaSparrow Missile (ESSM). IMHO, you mistake MIM-104 with MIM-23 which used to fly at Mach2.3 only 😉 The 1st gen of Patriots used in anti-ballistic mode wasn’t as successful that Bush Sr. bragged… Read more »
