BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:50 P.M.) – The Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz told Reuters on Wednesday that his regime is pushing the Trump administration to recognize the occupied Golan Heights as Israeli territory.

According to Katz, recognizing the Golan Heights has been “topping the agenda” with the Trump administration, following their latest embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“This is the perfect time to make such a move. The most painful response you can give the Iranians is to recognize Israel’s Golan sovereignty – with an American statement, a presidential proclamation, enshrined (in law),” he said.

Reuters reached out to a White House official for a response to Katz’s claims; however, they declined to confirm any details.

“We meet with Israel on a wide range of issues,” the official told Reuters before declining to comment on the specific topic.

The Golan Heights was captured by Israel during the 1967 War and has been occupied since, despite U.N. Resolution 497 which recognizes the Golan Heights region as Syrian territory.

Since when must or can a third party state legitimise a territorial conquest? UN 497 resolution is just as worthless.

Such matters are decided in a peace treaty: in this case between Syria and Israel. They must negotiate the peace conditions and whether the Golan remains Israeli or not. The local residents can also decide and are asked. See the referendum in the Saarland (German French border) after WW II. The people in the region decided they want to be German.

In fact, what was infamous was selling the region twice : 1st to the Rotschilds, then in 1922 to the Hashemites…
After the demise of the Ottoman Empire, yup, it belonged to Brits, simply filling the power vacuum…

Stern : the legitimisation of territorial conquest is saying Golan Heights is Syrian as they took the area by force in 1948.
Golan wasn’t part of the (French) Mandate for Syria, but of the (Brit) Mandate of JEWISH-Palestine.
It wasn’t part of Syria when they proclaimed independence in 1947.
C’mon, don’t be biased, look for facts!
You and miltiades, stop doing your pre May 8th 1945 Germans, brown shirts don’t fit you, even if these are from Hugo Boss…

“This is the perfect time to make such a move. The most painful response you can give the Iranians is to recognize Israel’s Golan sovereignty ” it is clear the zionists are trying to bait syria and iran with such petty moves and they do not seem to have a problem admitting this publicly

Russia is sanctioned because the Crimean people decided, in a fre referendum, to join the Russian Federation.
East Jerusalem and the Golan were annexed by brute force, against the will and to the harm of their population – a referendum not even being thought of: and now instead of sanctions – recognition?
Time to close ranks.

Yup, these were annexed by the brutal force of the Arab-League in 1948 and retaken by Israel in 1967!

“The most painful response you can give the Iranians is to recognize Israel’s Golan sovereignty”?

What has Syrian commons to do with punishing Iran? Trump opened Pandora’s box with the embassy move and Israel has reached the Peter Principle with most of the world. The theater of the absurd.

Maybe because Syria (and Lebanon) are now seen as Iranian colonies/puppets? And not only in Israel… “Israel has reached the Peter Principle with most of the world. The theater of the absurd” => Actually, it’s the UN that reached the Peter Principle about Israel… Just consider how many resolutions while… Near nothing about the MILLIONS killed around the Great Lakes or in Sudan… Oooops, Sudan is in the Arab-League… Who cared about Mugabe having destroyed the agriculture of his country and having expelled all white people? When Arafat tried to overthrown King Hussein in 1970, then Hussein expelled Palestinian refugees… Read more »

For long time it is perfectly clear – the USA are a zionist puppet. USA/UK/Saudis are ruled by zionists (directly or otherwise). This is THE cause the THE root of all the calamities it the world.
Zionism must be brought to a tribunal similar to the one held in Nurnberg 70 year ago. Its’ leaders and its active followers must be punished once for all.

But you’ll also have to judge worst things first : Pan-Arabism, countries with Sharia-law, communism, capitalism, nationalism, deism, monarchism, conservatism, fascism, Nazism… All are worst than Zionism… Do you know that PLO alone is responsible for at least twice if not thrice more deaths than Tsahal? And most of the Tsahal-induced deaths occurred due to the country being under attack from an all-out war on several fronts with no oter reasons than its Arab neighbours wanted to genocide Jews and loot the country? Maybe should we begin with a Nuremberg v.2.0 for Neo-Nazis, there is a shïtload of them to… Read more »
