DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:40 A.M)- Israeli Occupation forces, yesterday, closed a Palestinian school, later executing a Palestinian man, accused of attacking military personnel, in the South of Nablus (Occupied West Bank).
Early Monday morning, Israeli Occupation forces violently closed a high-school, located in the village of al-Lubban (South of Nablus). A protest, consisting of Palestinian education officials and students, mounted against the sporadic decision by the Israeli army to take control of the school. The Israeli Occupation forces reacted to the protest violently, throwing tear gas grenades, attacking demonstrators and threatening to shoot them.
Palestinian media interviewed local residents, who complained about an increase in school raids by the Israeli Military. The Israeli Occupation Army, refused to comment on the closure of the school.
Palestinian Education Minister, Sadri Saidam, stated that Israel’s decision to close the school was “catastrohpic”. An 8th grade student added that the decision was ridiculous as the school is clearly a place for education, not “war nor torture”.
The school, built in 1946, has endured dozens of closures by Israeli Occupation forces, the last in 2008.
Later that same day, Israeli forces gunned down a twenty-two year old man, Elias Saleh Yassin, after he attempted to stab a soldier. Elias Saleh Yassin was from the village of Bidya, which is currently under military lockdown, as Israel prepare to enact their collective punishment policy and bulldoze his home.
Unprovoked attacks, perpetrated against the civilian population of Nablus, have dramatically increased in the past month. The violence has been highlighted by the, Israeli Settler, stoning to death of a Palestinian mother of 7.
