BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – The Israeli Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz stated on Tuesday that he welcomes the assassination of the Syrian scientist last week.

However, the Intelligence Minister declined to comment on whether or not Israel played a role in the assassination.

“We don’t of course comment on reports of this kind and I’m not going to comment now,” Katz told Israeli army radio.

“I can say that assuming the details of this man’s activities are correct and he was engaged in developing chemical weapons and longer-range missiles capable of hitting Israel, I certainly welcome his demise.”

The Syrian scientist Katz is referencing is General ‘Aziz Isbar, who was the head of the Scientific Research and Development Institute in the western Hama city of Masyaf.

A Syrian military source told Al-Masdar that they believe Israel was behind the assassination, despite some claims by rebel groups.

And they say they want peace ? Such actions only fuel hatred and reduce the poor chances for peace. After all, after that Israeli comment there is no doubt who is behind this attack.

Zi0wahabbis so far has killed many scientists around the world from Egypt and Turkey to Syria, Iran, and Palestine. They are cancer and should be removed.

Gandalf : they didn’t said they’ve done it, they just said they welcomed it. Actually, the murder was claimed by Abu Amara ‘special task force’ which is Turkish-backed and already did many daring operations behind SAA lines 😉 “After all, after that Israeli comment there is no doubt who is behind this attack.” => Not forcedly : not the 1st time they suggest Mossad took some action while they’re not implied at all, even if others claimed the attack, e.g. they did the same when Mughnya (Hezb commander who bombed the USMC barracks in Beirut in 1983, killing 223 US… Read more »

This is not the first time as the Israelis do assassinations all the time, see Gerald Bull. This was done to set back the Syrian defense capabilities. Adding to this is the Americans trying to keep Iran down with US’s unilateral breaking of the P5+1 nuclear agreement and the reintroduction Iranian sanctions. This seems to me like the last ditch effort by the USA to maintain for the forseeable future their dominance in international affairs with the help of their toadies the Israelis, reprobate E. European countries such as Poland, Ukraine, etc, and the newly minted BFFs non-democratic, theocratic Saudi… Read more »

In the Gerald Bull case, it’s only BELIEVED Mossad did it. Due to Bull’s past ventures, it has been speculated that besides Iran or Israel, the CIA, MI6, or the Chilean, Syrian, Iraqi, or South African government could have been behind his assassination… “Adding to this is the Americans trying to keep Iran down with US’s unilateral breaking of the P5+1 nuclear agreement and the reintroduction Iranian sanctions. It has always been the plan of Israelis to kill scientists of other countries to keep those countries behind and slave.

I would disagree with you here. First, they offer a big chunk of money those scientists to work for them. Most of the time this approach works. However, few of the scientists choose NOT to work for Jews. In this case they assassinate them. Well, this Syrian scientist was a hero for me. First, because he didn’t accept to be on the Jews payroll. Second, he knew what’s going to happen and he challenged it with all his fate. RIP!

You must be in Mossad to know Israelis plans, LOL!
Very huge program you just uncovered since there are MILLIONS of scientists on Earth.

Will his murder stop the attainment of better Syrian missile technology , better pinpoint accuracy ?? Certainly not . This goal is going to be attained , irrespective of his death. Forces of history drive the progress , bigger than a single person. So the only tangible effect of the new Mossad outrage is going to be a PR distraction , in the face of the perceived defeat of Israel’s goals of dismembering and weakening Syria . Syria has emerged much stronger and militarily potent after her ordeal. That ‘s the conundrum .Knowing that the Mossad will find it tempting… Read more »

How funny since some Turkish-backed Abu Amara ‘special task force’ claimed the murder.
Huhu, old Israeli Mossad trick to let people believe they’re behind it and entertaining their own legend, the deception being they so look more powerful than SVR or CIA while they actually aren’t 😉
