BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 P.M.) – The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that Israel had recovered the watch of the former Mossad spy Eli Cohen.
According to their statement, the Mossad conducted a special operation in which they were able to recover the watch from an “enemy state.”
Mossad chief Yossi Cohen claimed the watch was part of the spy’s “fabricated Arab identity” and worn by him until the day he was executed in Syria.
The watch will be returned to Eli Cohen’s family in the Fall, the statement added.
Eli Cohen was one of Israel’s most famous spies; he was executed in Damascus in 1965 after the Syrian authorities discovered he was working for the Mossad.
