BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:05 P.M.) – The former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon told RIA Novosti on Saturday that Israel does not need to notify Russia when they are carrying out an operation inside Syria.
“It’s not even coordination, the Russians do not need to coordinate their actions with us, and we need to coordinate with them. We know how to identify each other’s planes,” Ya’alon stated.
Ya’alon highlighted that Israel knows where Russian planes are active and based in Syria, so they often avoid targeting areas where they are present.
“We are able to distinguish between the Syrian Su-24 and the Russian Su-24 … Similarly, they are able to identify our aircraft and do not interfere,” the former DM added.
