BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:40 A.M.) – The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are allegedly preparing for a new tunnel operation along the border of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli publication Maariv reported on Tuesday.
According to the Maariv report, residents of nearby Sderot have heard digging sounds from underneath their settlements.
The Maariv report said that the new Israeli military endeavor will mimic their ongoing operation along the southern border of Lebanon.
Similar to the Lebanese border operation, this military endeavor by the Israeli Defense Forces will be called “Operation Southern Shield”.
The tunnels allegedly belong to the Hama Movement, who is considered a terrorist entity in Israel.
Since launching “Operation Northern Shield” along the Lebanese border, the Israeli Defense Forces have claimed that four Hezbollah tunnels have been unearthed near Upper Galilee.
Of the four tunnels unearthed by the IDF, at least two of them stretch as far south as the Upper Galilee region.
