Damascus, Syria (6:00 A.M.) – The Islamist rebels of Ajnad Al-Sham carried out surprise assault against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in Darayya on Monday, killing as many as ten soldiers after attacking them from a tunnel.

Ajnad Al-Sham’s surprise assault against the Syrian Arab Army allowed them to take control of two major points inside of Darayya.

However, the Islamist rebels would not hold onto these points for very long, thanks in large part to the Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard, who carried out their own assault on Monday evening.

The Republican Guard forces were able to recapture the Al-Wahbi and Al-Qatteh points in west Darayya after launching a short counter-assault to clear the area.

Despite losing all of the points they captured, Ajnad Al-Sham did carry out a successful ambush, while suffering minimal casualties in the process.

I wonder why SAA don’t dig a tunnel to Darayya centre and use it to attack Jihadists from behind…

I think tunnel was there all along, rebels just masked it’s exit when ceased surrounding territory to SAA.

SAA is in the war but have been surprised by having the enemy attack them? What kind of war this is when one side gets surprised? Or is it the reporting?

500 militants with little more than personal weapons are defeating the Syrian Army in Damascus, their military’s HQ. There are 6 divisional HQ in and around Damascus: ( Divisions:1,4,7,10,14, RG), plus 2 million people residing in Damascus. Can’t they mobilize 5,000 men, create a plan and have Darayya taken over the weekend.
